Some people may argue that one can’t be responsible for other people’s actions. This is what many hip-hop/rap artists say when youngsters are walking around posing as “gangstas” and dress or act like them. These artists actually think that they don’t play a role in how these youngsters think? They listen to their music and think their word is bond! If celebrities don’t have influential powers, then why do so many designers have celebrity muses?
Just as it is with music artists, it is with fashion designers. Many people look up to these designers and try to emulate them. As a designer, I think it is important to take advantage of their platform, make a point to teach others, and spread good messages. This is what Vivienne Westwood has done in her latest show.
Stand up for what you believe in and try to improve the fashion community.
