
These people are the “artisans” - the ones who actually stitch and sew those beautiful pieces we see on the runways. An artisan is quoted in the article as saying: “We just want people to know that it’s the karigars who are behind these fabulous dresses. Let the designers make profits. We only want a little recognition because we have dedicated our lives to this work.”
Creating fashion is truly an art form. It’s only right that we pay tribute to and remember those people who have sacrificed in order for us to wear that $300 pair of shoes or carry that $1,000 handbag.
