In the years after 9/11, there have been many stories going around about Islam and especially Muslim women and their fashion. Many of us here in America think Muslim women only wear long black attire with veils, however, that is really not the case. A recent Islamic fashion show in Indonesia this week is evidence that not all Muslim women are held in fashion bondage. Models in colorful traditional batik patterns and long, demure clothing strutted down the runway. “Muslim fashion should not be identified with long black scary attire, but Muslim women can appear in nice, trendy, up-to-date fashion, Indonesia is a trendsetter for Muslim fashion followed by Malaysia,” said Musa Widyatmojo, a supervisor of the fashion designers' association.
