I came across this little news snippet about Catherine West, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of JCPenney (JCP), who was terminated and I was reminded of another newspaper article I read the other day that said that West never had any retail experience prior to signing on with JCPenney.  

Why would you hire an executive for one of the biggest department store chains who didn’t have any type of retail experience?  One can’t say for sure if she was “dismissed” because of her incompetence and this article states that the company will not comment on why West was fired, so we can all just speculate...
