For those of you who have an interest in fashion illustration, I came across the Fashion Templates website via Santa Mistura (A great Brazilian blogger!) I, for one, find it challenging to draw the human figure, so this a great resource to look into. I browsed the Fashion Templates site and found all kinds of tips and articles. In the “Jobs/Portfolios” section, I came across some advice that I’d like to share here:
“If you do anything as a freelancer you need to be self motivated, a good business mind and extremely organised. You have to be able to take criticism and persevere. Always be knowledgeable about your field, you need to be able to negotiate contracts and understand copyright laws.”
What I like about doing freelance work is that you are the boss of YOU. You set your own hours and pretty much work whenever you want to and wherever you want to. However, I know that many of you aren’t as structured and disciplined as I am, so perhaps working for someone else may be more beneficial. However, what I’ve learned is that when you really love what you do, it’s easy to stay focused and motivated.
