With the constant pressure from the fashion and beauty industry to “buy this” and “wear this”, it’s a challenge to think for yourself sometimes.  When we were younger we struggled to find our own identity, but yet we still succumbed to peer pressure felt a need to be like everyone else.  We wanted to be accepted.  We wanted to be cool.  We wanted to be “in”.  Sometimes we sacrificed our “true selves” to be one of the “cool people”.  Instead of showing people just how smart we are, we tried really hard to look good.  Sometimes too hard.  Life was confusing back then, eh?

Well, in answer to Shannon’s post...I feel much more comfortable now that I’m in my 30’s.  Is there any pressure to look a certain way?  Nope.  I accept and love myself for who I am.  Pressure to be both brainy and beautiful?  I feel it once in a blue moon, but I snap out of it quick.  It took years and years to get to this point of full acceptance and I can’t even explain how absolutely liberating it feels!
