Green Fashion

No, I’m not saying that green will be the new color for spring - but, hey, why not make green the “it” color for the season, eh?

I just came across this article at The New York Times that talks about eco-fashion.  What’s interesting about it is that when people think about eco-fashion, they think about purchasing organic cotton.  However, did you know that cotton uses up quite a bit of energy in that you have to wash cotton at high temperatures, dry it at high temperatures, and iron it all the time?  So, what’s the alternative?  Polyester?  Yup, that’s what the article said.  polyester%20yarn.jpg

A couple problems I have with polyester:

  • It’s itchy!
  • It doesn’t soak up sweat, so you look like you’ve stepped into a sauna - especially if you’re someone who’s prone to sweat quite a bit ;)

At this point I think the only way you’re going to get people to buy polyester again is to have all the celebrities wearing it!
