You don’t wear? I just read this piece over at Fashion Week Daily that gives us a glimpse of Christian Dior’s Haute Couture SS07 line. These grandeur pieces surely aren’t for the faint-hearted. They’re bold and full of creative flair. ![]()
I often wonder who would buy pieces like this that Galliano created for Dior. I picture queens in far off places adorning these dresses at some esteemed gathering. Or perhaps they could be costumes for a movie? Are they strictly for show only to be exhibited in a museum someday? Is it true that design houses sometimes lose money from these haute couture fashion shows?

I love the Christian Dior S/S 2007 collection. The dresses are breath-taking and inspiring but they are definitely for those who enjoy being the center of attention - unlike me who is quite shy and would rather elegantly blend into the fashion gathering than stand-out in one CD's fabulous dresses.
I did read in a fashion magazine years ago that many of the fashion houses do take losses in their haute couture lines but it's more than compensated for in the amount of publicity that it brings the company.
So it may eventually be a wash - oh, and like you said I think their designs are used in hollywood - not only on the sets but on the red carpet.
