Recently I read an article about how premium brand denim companies have been expanding into other markets to include accessories, eyewear, and even the hotel industry. Perhaps this could be the cause of Gap’s current issues, but nevertheless, we must accept that high-end denim jeans are here to stay.
"Adding accessories and clothing to build a lifestyle brand can work for those jeans
companies with a strong customer following," said Marshal Cohen, a retail analyst.
However, with so many premium denim brands out there today, the only way they’re going to stand out from the crowd is to make their products very distinctive. Image and branding play a big role - and for me, well, it better be a quality product as well ;)
