If you read any of the major fashion magazines here in the U.S., you’ll notice those fold-out campaigns that Kohl’s (KSS) started not too long ago. The department store has increased its spending on advertising to establish the brand in the marketplace and of course, to increase sales. ![]()
I’ve shopped in Kohl’s before and have found some killer deals on clothing. The store is a cross between a Mervyn’s and a Macy’s in that you can find a mix of price points and pretty good quality of merchandise.
However, the question here is: Will Kohl’s spending on advertising lead to an increase in revenue? Perhaps in the beginning it will. As long as the stores can keep up with the merchandising and don’t leave the dressing rooms a mess, I think they’ll do ok. During my visit I had a hard time finding someone to help me - which is pretty normal in a department store - so if Kohl’s could set itself apart in the customer service arena I’ll give them a thumbs up.
