Dolce & Gabbana: Gang Rape Is Not Artistic

Dolce & Gabbana has been raising quite a stir over in Europe with their latest ad campaigns.  People in Italy and Spain are in a huff over the ad with the woman on her back and the guys looking over her like wolves going in for the kill.  

Yes, I thought it was a pretty bold move on D & G’s part.  Well, it’s obvious they’re doing this to create buzz and catch people’s attention.  They accomplished that feat.  dolcegabbanaad.jpg

But what happened to the fashion?  How does this ad get people to buy their clothing?  Oh, that ad is so exciting.  I’m going out to buy a Dolce & Gabbana outfit right now!  Uh, yeah, right.  

The fashion house has said that Spain is “behind the times” and will pull the ads from the country, but not anywhere else.  They are also quoted as saying, "What has an artistic photo got to do with a real act?"  Hmmmm...Ok, the picture is quite artistic, but gang rape?  Not artistic.

maria we live at time of violence, the culture of violence... bad , strange, irreversible... the fashion brands could make better choices but the persons that develop the campaigns don´t worrie about future they just want short results of media and sellers, and violence is a very good product for to sell now, have so many different types of products that sells violence for us... so...bad , strange, irreversible...

Does anyone mremember that movie with Meryl Streep 'The Devil Wears Prada'? Nigel said that fashion was greater than art because you live your life in it. I'll never forget those words, because as an aspiring designer, that statement gives me hope. Unfortunately, D&G almost crushed it with that ad, because I always belieed that I wantd to get into fashion for right reasons: because it was dignifying - a way to use my gift with class and also have the opportunity to make women beautiful. This ad, however, is almost as classless and tasteless as the designers themselves. I'm sure they feel pretty proud right now about their disgusting 'art'. May God have mercy on both your souls, gentlemen, especially when I take all your moralistic clients from you in the future

And you're left with NOTHING.

All for the sake of ART, right?

These ads are a bit overt and D&G are known for pushing the envelope when it comes to amping up the camp factor. Regardless of what the current trend may be if we do not go for the okiedoke they (advertisers) will not think these types of ads are acceptable.

D&G are great designers of their clothes but not their advertisements.

This one is so obviously and extremely explicit!

Thank God that they pulled-out this one!
It promotes gang-rape on this.

Sometimes(but not all of the times), they use strong sex appeal on their products to sell.
And my question for the designers: "do you need to strip clothing or reveal any sexual things just to sell clothes or any other products"?

Its like a trend nowadays that I seen on my favorite decent fashion magazine like Vouge.


Some say like this, "Its for the sake of the art": ARE YOU KIDDING US?!?! Its SEX! >:(

I hope D&G use their brains on more artistic way and not on this trashy ad!
