Is it possible that Vogue will soon have its own blog? The New York Post reports that Anna Wintour hates the word “blog”. The staff at Vogue have been challenged to come up with a different word to describe the new online feature. Hmmm...what about “The Vogue Diaries”?
Well, this sparked some curiosity as to how the word “blog” came about. I came across this Blog History page where it says that John Barger was the one to coin the term “web log” and then in early 1999 Peter Merholz announced that he was going to pronounce web logs as “wee blog”. It was then shortened to just “blog”.
Yes, it is a weird word. My boyfriend still laughs to this day when I say it. “Blahhhg, blah, blah, blah, blaahhhgg,” is what he thinks.
Speaking of blogs, as you can see I have a long list of blogs in my Blogroll and unfortunately I can only list 25 there. So, if you would like me to link to you all I ask is that you do a review of The Runway Scoop at your blog - good or bad review is fine with me - and when you link to me, make sure you use the anchor text "fashion blog". Then email me (maria [at] therunwayscoop.com) your review along with your blog information. I will then feature your blog in one of my posts!
I'll leave you with this video blog I came across with some great fashion pixes...

It's typical of the fashion industry to not realise where it's market is. It will have to wake up and realise that the Internet and blogs are influential...
