I haven’t gotten around to reading all the editorials of Mumbai Lakme Fashion Week which is taking place this week, but a headline caught my eye today: “
The Decline of the Sari” We know the sari as the traditional dress of Indian women - very beautiful I might say. However, Hilary Alexander of
Telegraph.UK noticed that many of the designers have left this style out of their collections. Their reason is that the sari is no longer seen as a “trend”.

I never knew that the sari was a “trend“. Isn’t it clothing that is part of their heritage? If anything, that is something Indian designers could use to set themselves apart from other international designers. I then wonder if ditching the sari is part of the plan to
enter the U.S. market.
