I’m sure that there are many famous designers out there who can tell us a story of how his/her parents wanted them to do something besides fashion design. It took awhile for my parents to understand that I wanted to be a jewelry designer - not a nurse! It also took awhile before I actually started seeing the rewards of my efforts, but when they saw that I was actually making money from making jewelry, well, they finally came around.
Of course, there are many other obstacles that aspiring designers face, such as criticism from teachers, peers, and people in the industry who think they know everything. However, keep rollin’ with the punches, dear friend, because all dreams do come true if you want it bad enough!
