The Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute currently has an exhibit called “Poiret:  King of Fashion”.  As I browsed through the Flickr set provided by Coutorture, this picture here really spoke to me.  A lover of pillows, beautiful scarves and long dresses…could this be me?

 I have to admit that I never heard of Poiret until now.  His prime as a fashion designer was back in the early 1900’s, so I presume that I’m not the only one who has been ignorant of his influence in modern fashion – and obviously Jessica Simpson has no clue…. 

Besides, the loose-fitting silhouettes that Poiret is know for aren’t exactly the latest “trend”.  Fashion divas of our day love clothes to be a little form-fitting, so Poiret’s style would be something our grandma’s could probably relate to – although, I think that will soon change…
