
In a time when many of us are seeking the next “it” thing, it is Oscar de La Renta who keeps us grounded in classic, timeless style. De La Renta put the “C” in Classic and of course it comes as no surprise that he won the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year Award. However, he does share that honor with Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler. If there was an award for Designer of the Decade, Oscar would have received my vote.
Don’t let the simplicity of the De La Renta designs fool you. Pictured below are a couple dresses from his Cruise 2008 collection (Courtesy of Coutorture). One doesn’t even have to see these pieces in person to know just how luxurious the fabrics are.
