Those are the words of Kris Van Assche, who has just been given the title of Artistic Director for Dior Homme.  In an interview with Details Magazine Assche reveals his journey to becoming a designer - starting at Yves Saint Laurent as an intern, then going on to Dior Homme.  

I like Van Assche’s philosophy about fashion and wearability:

“When I design clothes I always think about the occasion when a guy could wear them, or I think about friends wearing them. People can call that commercial, but for me it is much more of a challenge.”

I think it’s important for designers to produce clothing that is wearable.  What’s the point of designing clothes that can’t really be worn?  If a piece can only be worn by the model you’ve pasted it on, then something needs to be changed.
