There's a growing concern amongst the fashion community that New York fashion week has turned into a celebrity-fest. Are people there to celebrate and acknowledge the fashion designers or are they more concerned with who is sitting in the front row and who showed up with whom?

When I first started blogging about fashion week I was extremely frustrated with all the news reports featuring celebrities and their appearances at certain shows. Ok, so writing about celebrities may bring more traffic to the website and perhaps the media thinks people want to read all that gossip, but what about the rest of us who want to know about the fashion? Isn't that what fashion week is about? There's going to be over 200 shows this year and some of those shows will probably never even make it into the press because reporters are too busy chasing down celebrities. If you want to watch celebrities - why not just tune into Dancing With the Stars?

As I approach the end of my 8th fashion week, I've come to the conclusion that FW is about entertainment... Only designers with deep pockets or who have parents with deep pockets, are able to show at the tents. Celebs are everywhere because it's easy media for them (and a fat paycheck for others).
If you really want to see the items, you would set up a time to visit the designer's showroom.
