As a fashion designer, would you want to be associated with a celebrity like Lindsay Lohan and on top of that give her clothes to represent your brand? Perhaps Karl Lagerfeld doesn't pay much attention to the media or he and Lohan have quite a bit in common. At what point do you say forget what the media is saying and just go with your gut instinct?

As an outsider with friends I would say that you can love your friends from a distance and try not to be an enabler. Some people are lucky enough to never have friends who are addicted to drugs, I'm not one of those people. After trying to help and give advice and even a place to escape an abusive drug addicted boyfriend, I just had to let go. Friends with toxic behaviors bleed their toxicity into your life and at some point enough has to be enough.
I think it is dangerous for high profile designers with friends like Lindsay Lohan do more harm than good when they continue to "stand by" their friends regardless of what that person does. True friendship is being able to tell your friend they are headed down the wrong path but placating their bad behavior is just enabling.
