Fashion design technology has become a growing interest in the fashion industry. Nowadays we have skirts or dresses that can change length at the push of a button or shirts that can change color or print. One of the leaders in fashion innovation, NYC’s very own DDCLAB, currently has an exhibit at Material ConneXion until September 28, 2007.
From sleek suits that block electromagnetic radiation to hip hoodies with true performance climate control—DDCLAB is paving the way towards a future fashion, a fashion that performs. Selections from their collections that will be on view include a Kimono Silk Jacket Hand-Dyed with Mud (2002), a fire-resistant sport coat of 100% cork (2005) and, among other items debuting in their Spring 2008 collection, a Bamboo Gauze Linen jacket of 100% Bamboo and an Optical Weave Dress that weaves together natural and synthetic yarns into a shiny checkerboard pattern.
Material ConneXion is located at 127 West 25th Street , on the Second Floor. Material ConneXion is open Monday Through Friday 9:00 AM through 6:00 PM, and is accessible by the F,V,C,E,1, W, and R trains all at 23rd Street.
