There are two collections from the New York Spring 2008 shows that I've dubbed as one of those "you either love it or you hate it" type of collections: Marc Jacobs and Vera Wang. As Cathy Horyn says in her New York Finale:
"Why do critics divide over a collection? I can’t tell you. We just do. The only thing that matters is that you’re prepared to defend your conclusions."

The reason that we're all divided over a collection is because we all have different tastes and ideas of what fashion is and isn't. As I've said before, fashion is a very subjective industry. It's just like art. One person could love a piece of abstract art and another person could absolutely hate it.
Marc Jacobs said it best in an interview with Eric Wilson of The New York Times:
"Backwards seems just as good as forwards. I mean, what's the difference? Perfect? Imperfect? Beautiful? Not Beautiful? It's like, that's an individual thing. It doesn't matter. You know, this is just fashion. It's every six months. You send something out and hope people like it."
