One of my favorite bloggers, Kathryn Finney of The Budget Fashionista, was recently interviewed by the Daily News. Kathryn talks about how she got into fashion blogging, the ins and outs of running her own blog, plus budget fashion, of course!
It's interesting because from what I've read about other fashion bloggers, blogging started out as something fun to do - and remains as something fun to do. I never would have guessed how much influence fashion bloggers would have and on the business side - all the monetary potential blogs have. People have been saying that blogs are "fads", but I think they're going to be around for a long, long time.
I believe readers look to fashion bloggers for unique perspectives. Unlike a regular fashion column, fashion blogs take on a more personal approach. A blogger can pretty much write whatever he/she wants to write about without an editor to answer to. In essence, fashion bloggers are their own editors.
I personally prefer to read fashion blogs over regular news articles, although I do read some of the major fashion columns like WWD and The New York Times to stay abreast of what the vets are writing about.
What about you? Do you prefer to read blogs? Why or why not?
Cathy Horyn quote from her post, The Gorgeous Ones.
