When people want to shop for infant clothing, where do they go? Most of the time I head to the department stores if I want to buy baby clothing for my friends' kids. I can't think of any stand-alone chain stores that specialize in infant clothing except for Babies "R" Us...
Well, now the company famous for their cookware, Williams Sonoma, is testing a new concept store called "Threads" - apparel for infants. The first store opened up just over a week ago in Bellevue, Washington and a second store is slated for the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
Time will only tell if the concept will work. I think it will really depend on the area. Most people won't spend a great deal of money on infant clothing due to the fact that babies grow so fast.
