Fun Times in the Life of a Fashion Blogger

Well, I did make it to BlogWorld Expo after all, which explains my lack of posts.  Yes, you're probably wondering how I could have gone to BlogWorld and not blogged while I was there, but I was there for human connections and not virtual ones - which is something I would like to do with the fashion blog community in the near future.

Coutorture is talking about a party in New York in December, but I think it would be better to have a party during New York Fashion Week.  What do you think?

I didn't meet any fashion bloggers at the expo, however, I did get to attend a Zappos party.  Man, can those guys throw a nice get-together.  The party was held in a little ole' bar with this huge wooden(?) door that masked a surprisingly cool hip joint near the Fremont District of downtown Las Vagas.

I got to know John Hong, a web content writer of Zappos, one of the smiliest, nicest guys you'll ever meet.  A little weird, but apparently that's what Zappos likes - people who are a little weird.  If you ever want to know how an online fashion website should operate, I highly recommend modeling the Zappos business culture.  John has promised a tour of their headquarters next year, so I'm looking forward to that.

Here's John with one of my favorite bloggers, Liz Strauss...

And speaking of Zappos, here's a pair of interesting Donald J. Pliner boots that I came across during my search for winter boots. Perhaps it's the hippie in me who is diggin' these...

Hi Maria!
It was so fun to meet you! A surprise of the very best kind!

Liz -
Definitely a surprise... It was definitely nice to finally meet you in person. Sometimes I get so caught up in my virtual bubble that I forget that yes, we can actually meet face to face ;)

Hi first time here! :) that's funny that you mention zappos party because I was watching 60 minutes and they had a feature about the changing workplace in US and Zappos was shown was one of the most innovative and fun places to work - too bad I don't live in Nevada (that's where they are based right?).

It was wonderful to meet you there, Maria!

** MKO,

Welcome! Yes, Zappos' headquarters is in Nevada - just outside of Vegas. John Hong showed me some pictures of the fun things they do there in Zappos land. I'll try to get a few from him to share here...

** Easton,

It was so nice meeting and chatting with you!

I am interested in advertising on your site. We have created a Shopping Widget, designed to enhance the stickiness and money-making ability of your site. It’s fast and easy, and you can have one live on your site within minutes. Visitors to your site can shop multiple product categories (or you can choose a specific category or retailer for your widget) and pay with their credit cards or PayPal accounts directly on the widget, without ever leaving your site! Double-dip on your site visitors: Someone makes a purchase on the widget, you get paid. This same person then clicks on a banner ad, you get paid again.

You can check out the Shopping Widget here: http://mporiawidget.blogspot.com. What is the next step I need to take to post a widget on your site?

Thanks,
Shannon
