I found it interesting that Ford says that he went away for awhile to rethink what is important to him. I believe it's important for a fashion designer - or anyone else for that matter - to get away and refocus. Oftentimes people get caught up in what publicists, public relations, managers, etc. are saying to them. Then you have investors and the general public saying this and that or that they want this and that. Meanwhile, you lose yourself in all this noise. You forget why you got started in this industry in the first place and you lose touch of that passion.
I also like that Tom Ford doesn't put any logos on his collections. You look at his pieces and you can just tell that it's quality - and that's all that matters.
