Known for his theatrical collections, John Galliano doesn't fail to disappoint in the Spring 2008 haute couture show for Christian Dior.  The runway exploded with bright colors and billowy satin draped over the models like puffy-cloud dresses.  The littlest detail was not overlooked in this collection and even the shoes made their own statement.  I can guess that the phrase "Over the top" is also being used to describe the fanfare that sashayed the runway. 

 

According to Fashion Wire Daily (FWD), Galliano was inspired by Jean Singer Sargent’s portrait of Madame X.  Sargent was one of the most fashionable painters working in England and the U.S. during the 19th century.
