It's interesting to see how marketing and public relations has changed in the past couple years alone. Although I wouldn't go as far as to say that the pitch is dead, I think it's more about how you pitch to the media.
What many PR people have forgotten is that word: "relations". It's all about building relationships. That's the one thing every PR person should remember if he/she wants to be successful. And speaking of Pierce Mattie, I think they're one of the public relations firms that is doing it right. What I mean is that they've leveraged Web 2.0 tools (i.e. blogs) to actively engage with fashion bloggers and people in the fashion industry. Pierce Mattie has reached out to fashion bloggers and provided helpful seminars and information.
