Thoughts On Retailers Putting Limits on Handbag Purchases
This New York Times article talks about how retailers are limiting the purchases of high-end handbags which I think is pretty absurd.  If you have a customer who is willing to give you thousands upon thousands of dollars - don't you want to take it?  Don't you want that money?

I understand the concern for reselling.  It's happened a million times or more on eBay.  However, this is something a retailer can't really control - even if they set these limits.  Who is to say that the customer can't call up 3 or 4 of her friends to tell them to buy handbags for her?  Believe me, where there is a will, there is a way.

This practice usually starts from the manufacture, and it is used in almost every aspect of the retail business.I do agree this para military behavior only frustrates the consumer, so the manufacture can feel like their product is the best, highest or most sought after product on the market. When at the end of the day if the consumer doesn't buy it, the manufacture and retailer will sell it to anyone including the coner vender on a New York street corner.
