Hubert Givenchy was known for dressing beloved fashion icon, Audrey Hepburn, but the Fall 2008 collection is far removed from the classic style many of us are used to.  It looks more like the Fall 2003 collection that Julien MacDonald presented - very dark and mysterious.  Perhaps that's why the bigwig editors have continued to rain down on Riccardo Tisci’s parade.  They continue to compare the more modern collections with the polished looks of Audrey Hepburn and can't seem to break the mold. 

However, editors have now come with a new appreciation for Tisci.  Even Susan Cernek has an interesting take on the collection. (Who knew you could use pie graphs in fashion? Makes me wish I paid more attention in stats class!) The Givenchy Paris flagship is due to open tomorrow, so this Fall 2008 collection was riding on good reviews.

Perhaps Tisci's vision has become more focused, but I hope it doesn't become too narrow that it stifles his creativity.  You can never be too bizarre and revolutionary!  If you don't challenge the so-called fashion elite, then who will?
