What Can We Do About Diversity on the Runways?
As I browsed through some of the photos of various runway shows in New York last week, I made an interesting observation...There were more models "of color" than any other fashion week I've seen before.  And I'm not the only one who has made note of this.  Robin Givhan gave mention to this small step toward diversity on her fashion blog. Other fashion bloggers are sharing their opinions as well.

I give much credit to Bethann Hardison and Diane Von Furstenberg who are creating awareness and pushing fashion designers to embrace “whole groups of people no matter their race or color.”  If we can keep the conversation going in the media and share our thoughts on fashion blogs, I think the situation will improve.

Could it really be that modeling agencies aren't sending enough black models for casting?  BellaSugar talks to designer Wenlan Chia who tells us what she looks for in models for her runway show.

Diversity may be Fashion Week's latest victim, but I think we should all stop trying to play victim in this problem and start thinking about ways to change the problem.  Stop blaming each other.  Want to see change?  As Mahatma Ghandi said, "Be the change you want to see in the world."  It all starts with you!
