For many fashion designers, the road to success doesn't just happen overnight.  When you're Dries Van Noten and have shown 50+ collections in your career, success isn't a destination, it's a journey.  Van Noten is due to receive the International Designer of the Year from the Council of Fashion Designers of America next week and the award is much deserved. 

Haven't heard of Dries Van Noten?  If you're fashion education consists of perusing the big fashion glossies, then you probably have never heard of him.  In his 20+ years in the fashion industry, Van Noten hasn't relied on advertising to get the word out about his work.  Who needs advertising when the pieces speak for themselves?  Check out the Fall/Winter 2008-2009 women's collection in this video...
