My father is a funny creature. Whenever we go shopping he likes to look at the labels of clothing to see where they’re made. Not that he’s a snob and will only wear products made in certain countries. He looks at the label in order to determine if the product is actually “worth” what the price tag says it’s worth.
“Oh, it’s made in China. I’m not paying more than $5.00 for that.” That’s the typical response you’ll get from my father.
However, there are many people out there who will only buy products if the label says, “Made in Italy” or “Made in France” which is one of the topics of this article, Geographic labels on fashion items abound in fakes.
I personally don't really care where something is made as long as it's a quality product and it's not a fake. As John Hooks of Giorgio Armani said in the article, "There is no reason why you can't make good things anywhere in the world, as long as you have the artisans and attention to quality."
I think the mentality will slowly change with the Olympic Games being in China this year and big name fashion houses like Fendi doing a runway show at the Great Wall of China.
