Fashion For Breast Cancer Awareness Month
As you may already be aware, it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I’ve been seeing pink everywhere!  I’ve been seeing quite a bit of fashion companies coming out with products and showing their support for the research being done.  One particular product that caught my eye (via SheFinds) is this Gallery Breast Cancer Watch offered byCoach Breast Cancer Watch.jpg Coach.  Available exclusively at Coach stores and Coach.com.

By the way...I also made a breast cancer awareness necklace which is available at my Etsy shop.  A one-of-a-kind piece!  All of the proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Rock Stars Making a Difference With Fashion
With all the focus on Fashion Week, what slipped my mind was the Fashion Rocks event that took place last Thursday.  There were many performances, including some of my favorite music artists:  Jamie Foxx, Beyonce, and Faith Hill.  The AT&T Blueroom has someRihanna With Elton John at Fashion Rocks 2006 video highlights that are available here.  Style.com also provides some great red carpet photos

Fashion Rocks is an event that benefits Elton John’s AIDS Foundation.  There are forty items up for auction including my dream bag - a black Hermes Birkin bag!

Besides Elton John, there’s another rock star that wants to make a difference in people’s lives....    Jon Bon Jovi has partnered with Kenneth Cole to create a limited-edition outerwear collection that will be available at Kenneth Cole retail stores and Saks Fifth Avenue beginning in November.  Sales from the collection will benefit HELP USA

Usher and Armani Exchange Team Up

I’ve always had Usher on my list of best-dressed men and the other day as I watched one of his videos I got to wondering what he was up to these days. Come to find out Usher is out playing Billy Flynn in that famous Broadway musical, Chicago. Looking fine and dapper as usual!

Of course, Giorgio Armani is outfitting the singing hunk. The two Usher Armani Exchangerecently partnered up for Usher’s New Look/Project Restart charity. Armani Exchange will be offering a limited-edition t-shirt with Usher’s handprint and logo on it. A portion of the sales from the shirts will benefit the charity and help people who were affected by hurricane Katrina. Speaking of which, you may want to check out a new blog here at Know More Media called New Orleans Truth...

Sharon Stone Defends Fashion Industry

Speaking of celebrities and their acts of charity....Earlier I wrote aboutSharon Stone.bmp Usher and his volunteer work and now I just came across an article about Sharon Stone defending the fashion industry.  In a statement regarding a Fendi charity auction that took place at Cannes Film Festival she said:

"The fashion world is not superficial. Fendi were amazing to do what they did. I'm very proud that amidst the beauty and fashion are real people who get up and do things....People often assume that because you are a celebrity your life is by definition very glamorous and superficial. I see things that no one has any idea about, but it's a huge part of what drives me."

I agree with Sharon Stone and I have talked about her here before. She's actually a great auctioneer.  I saw her on the Ellen DeGeneres show once where she auctioned off the earrings she was wearing and contributed the money to charity.

Many of us are blessed with fashion and riches in our lives.  It is what you do with your wealth that sets you apart.

Usher Looking Fashionable As He Gets Down and Dirty

Some of you know that I have this very guilty pleasure of reading Usher Volunteering His Time in Louisianasome celebrity "gossip".  But honestly, I really only like to read about the stories that contain lessons to be learned.  I saw this headline today "Usher Volunteers His Sense of Fashion" - and because I do write about fashion, I wanted to see if there was indeed a good story to be told.  (Ok, I've rationalized it - enough!)

Well, it looks like Usher is volunteering some time at the International School of Louisiana where he is pictured getting down and dirty...or not.  I will have to agree, he is slightly overdressed.  At least he's doing something - which is more than I can say for most people.

Fashion For the Greater Good

People have gathered at the Cannes Film Festival to pay tribute to the Sharon Stone.bmpgreat films and film makers...and I'm checking out what the celebrities are wearing (Ok, you caught me - it's a guilty pleasure!).

I happened across this article about a charity event that was held during the festival to raise money for the foundation for AIDS research.  Sharon Stone hosted the event and is pictured here (picture taken from the article) auctioning off a Louis Vuitton vanity.  Giorgio Armani even donated his black diamond necklace to help out.

I love to read about creative people who are using their gifts to give back to the community...
