As you may or may not know, a couple weeks ago I visited and reviewed the Forth & Towne store here in San Diego.  I arrived a little early for the interview, so I decided to check out the other stores that were nearby and one of those stores was Sigrid Olsen.  Somehow I became entranced by the freshness and artsy-feel of the store. 

I was greeted by one of the employees who turns out to be the manager of the store, Yvette Gauna. We chatted about the jewelry (my love!) and she tried to help me find a jacket that I fell in love with in my size.

No, it isn’t a new art gallery, it’s the Max Azria boutique on Melrose Avenue in L.A. Artist Patrick Dougherty was commissioned by Max Azria to build this awesome display of art. I’ve been in “circle mode” myself with my art, so I have an appreciation for this. It’s fun and eye-catching, no? How can you not notice this while driving down Melrose?

Dougherty used tree sapling for this sculpture, or jungle adventure, that covers the building. The display will be on view until January 2008 and on December 4^th it will be unveiled at a party that will benefit the Environmental Defense Fund.

There's a very thin line between art and fashion. A very, very thin line.  In fact, Mark Schwartz has combined these two worlds together by coming out with an original collection of art depicted his love for design, art, and shoes.  I visted Schwartz's website and checked out his drawings... I appreciate the play of color and movement which are some of the characteristics of good art. Schwartz has proven to be innovative and creative in his designs and there's no doubt that his collection will do well in the galleries that will displaying his works.
