According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the "number crunching" still goes on weeks after the Australian Fashion Week in Sydney, but a designer is shining her light on the fashion world... Kirrily Johnston. She's being dubbed the "creative highlight" of the week by the media and has signed on 10 new stockists.
This is Johnston's first showing during the fashion week, however, other designers weren't quite so profitable. For one in particular, Luci Torres, it's time to close up shop.
"In actual fact we spent more on sampling and Fashion Week than we've made in sales. I understand the philosophy behind Fashion Week, that you start with a group show to ease yourself in, but I don't know if doing a group show gets the same attention," Torres said in a statement.
Yes, it's a tough business, but if you love it...why stop?
