Well, I told y'all that Gucci was on the mind... which has led me to stumble upon this interesting piece of news about Gucci via Fashion Wire Daily....

PPR, the owner of the Gucci Group, has announced a 7.9% increase in the first quarter of 2006.  When divided into two groups, the luxury sales side saw an increase of 19% and the retail division grew by 5.6%. 

"The Group's performance in the first quarter of 2006 confirms the strong growth dynamics of our businesses. Higher sales in Retail reflect our international expansion and benefit from sustained household consumption in France. In Luxury Goods, once again, all our brands posted strong growth across all markets," said PPR's Chairman and CEO François-Henri Pinault.

PPR owns other brands such as Bottega Veneta, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, and more.  The company did $21.8 billion (U.S.) in sales last year!

I've done some shopping on the internet recently and the designer that seems to stand out these days is Gucci.  My very first designer handbag was a retro Gucci and I carried that purse everywhere with me like it was my own child.  Couldn't take a shower for fear it may wander off into someone else's closet (like my mother's). 

With summer around the corner, I've been drawn to white - not because it's the "it" color for the season - but because there's something about the color that lends itself to chic and sophisticated. 

And being the fashionista that believes that accessories make the outfit, I've chosen these to add to the wishlist...

  This Gucci purse is big enough to carry the myriad of objects that I cannot live without:  notebook to write, makeup bag, coin purse, wallet, etc. etc...

Of course, you have to buy the shoes to match...

Ok, this is the one time that I'll expose my toes!

And to add the "cherry on top", so to speak, a fashionista must, must, must wear the Gucci sunglasses as to not draw too much attention to her beautiful face :)

Oh, la, la...summer, here I come!
